  1. Vince Gill Disappointed In Today's Country

    <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">Vince Gill isn&rsquo;t happy with the direction country music is headed according to a recent interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The Country Music Hall of Fame member says he takes issue with some of today&rsquo;s country, saying, &ldquo;I would love to hear someone write a song like 'He Stopped Loving Her Today' rather than 'You're hot. I'm hot. We're in a truck.' It's just mind-numbing to me.&rdquo; The guitar slinger also states his disappointment in record sales across the board, noting that the value of music isn&rsquo;t what it used to be. Vince&rsquo;s western-swing band the Time Jumpers will release a new album this August.     <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd yesterday locked down an August 21 release date for their next studio album Last of a Dying Breed, the follow up to 2009&rsquo;s Gods &amp; Guns. Of the new collection of songs, guitarist Gary Rossington said, &ldquo;We kind of went back old school this time. All of us playing together in the studio as a band, tracking songs and creating licks.&rdquo; Black Crowes bassist Johnny Colt joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers in the studio as a result of the passing in 2001 of longtime bassist Donald &ldquo;Ean&rdquo; Evan, who succumbed to cancer.</span>
