A lie about stealing drugs was the last thing Gregg Allman said to his late brother Duane, the longtime Allman Brothers Band singer/keyboardist reveals in his new memoir My Cross to Bear. In the book, Allman says he denied stealing cocaine from his brother’s house the morning before Duane died in a motorcycle accident in 1971. Allman writes, “That last thing I ever said to my brother was a f***ing lie, man. That was the last time I spoke to my brother. I have thought of that lie every day of my life, and I just keep recrucifying myself for it. But the thing is, I never got the chance to tell him the truth.”
