Singer/songwriter Elton John has asked an Illinois judge to consider tossing out a copyright infringement lawsuit against him over his tune “Nikita.” Songwriter/photojournalist Guy Hobbs hit John and songwriting partnerBernie Taupin with a lawsuit in April, claiming the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s 1985 single is way too similar to his song “Natasha,” which he wrote in 1982. John and Taupin have labeled the allegation “completely meritless.”
