In a new interview with LA Weekly, Warner Music label rep Ted Cohen claims Eddie Van Halen’s ex-wifeValerie Bertinelli caused Van Halen to split with David Lee Roth back in 1985. Cohen says Bertinelli argued that Eddie should get most of the credit for the band’s massive success and felt Roth was expendable. Cohen said, “David was an integral part of the band’s success. He was brilliant. If Valerie had never appeared on the scene, David would probably have never been kicked out in the first place.”
