Tony Award-winning actress Nina Arianda has been chosen to portray Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Janis Joplin in the upcoming biopic simply titled Joplin, Deadline reports. Producer Peter Newman assures Arianda will sing all of Joplin’s best-known tunes, saying, “I’ve never in my life seen an actress walk on a stage and convey the duality of vulnerability with overheated sexuality, which is what Janis was all about.” The film will focus mainly on the last six months of the singer’s life, using flashbacks to touch on key moments in her earlier career.
