The Marian Knights are coming off their best season since 1999.
Their 9-3 record included a 7-game winning streak that only ended in the sectional title game to eventual state runner-up South Bend St. Joe.
Leading scorer Michael Whitfield is back for his senior season. He's a speedster, and a dual threat as both a runner and a receiver.
And the Knights will be leaning heavily on him for production.
"He has great speed," coach Reggie Glon told WSBT. "He's also very elusive, where he'll change direction on you, he has different gears. And he'll make some plays cutting the ball back, but he just makes big plays doing that. So he's just one of those natural runners. He finds that lane, finds the cut-back, and then he's gone."
