Last year's football recruiting cycle didn't end well with prospects in the Fresno, Calif., area, but the Notre Dame coaching staff is back recruiting the area's top talent.

Fresno Central East High defensive back L.J. Moore is just one
prospect from the San Joaquin Valley that has shown mutual interest in
the Irish. The coaching staff may have former signee Tee Shepard and
former verbal commit Deontay Greenberry to thank.

“The initial thing that got me interested in Notre Dame is when Tee
committed and Deontay committed, even though they’re not there
anymore,” Moore said. “But I’m still very interested.

“When they committed it made me realize there’s something about the
school they fell in love with and we have some common interests so I
thought I’d check it out.”

The rising senior has already scheduled an official visit to Notre
Dame this fall for the Michigan game on Sept. 22.

Even though Shepard left campus two months after enrolling, Moore said
he has received good feedback from him about Notre Dame. Also working
in Notre Dame’s favor is the relationship that Moore is forming with
his recruiter, wide receivers coach Mike Denbrock.

“That’s continuing to grow which is helping out Notre Dame,” Moore said.

At 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, Moore has played both cornerback and safety
