  19. Harold LeRoy "Boomer" Poland, 59, of Morgantown, W. Va.

    Harold LeRoy "Boomer" Poland, 59, of  Morgantown, W. Va., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Golden Living Center of Morgantown. Harold was born in Morgantown on July 15, 1953, the son of the late Leonard Leroy Poland and the late Martha Jane (Lee) Poland. Survivors include his wife, Dolores Jean Genther Poland; one daughter, Melinda Mae Poland of Buckhannon, W.Va.; one son, Carl Harold Poland and his wife Michelle of Morgantown, three grandchildren, Reese Hunter Kayira, Savannah Grace Poland and Luke Asher Poland; two sisters: Martha Anne Lee of Falls Church, Va., and Lyda Barnhart and her husband Bill of Manassas, Va. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Leonard Lee Poland. Mr. Poland worked for more than 17 years in Consol Energy’s Blacksville No. 2 Mine. He was raised in the Drummond Chapel Methodist Church. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for a number of years, enjoyed flying model airplanes, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Additionally, he spent time growing vegetable gardens. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31 and again on Saturday, Sept. 1 from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. with Rev.  Richard Work officiating. Interment will be held privately in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover. Send condolences online at www.hastingsfuneralhome.com.
