  5. Janice Gail Lape, 55, of Frederick, Md., formerly of Boswell

    Janice Gail Lape, 55, of Frederick, Md., formerly of Boswell, passed away Feb. 14, 2013 at the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville, Md. Born Nov. 13, 1957 in Johnstown, she is the daughter of Robert E. and Dolores (Stahl) Lape of Davidsville. Janice was a 1975 graduate of North Star High School. She was employed as a health care recruiter at the Shady Grove Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital for eight years. Prior to that, she was employed at various other health care facilities throughout Pa. Janice was a member of the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, Hollsopple and Frederick Church of the Brethren where she also sang in the choir. She was an avid birdwatcher, enjoyed golfing, reading, biking, skiing, exercise, making stained glass and was also a very active volunteer in the Frederick County community. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her partner Sharon Jacko; her siblings William Lape and wife Ruth, Jeffrey Lape and wife Sharon and Kevin Lape and his late wife Carol; her niece Lauren McDade and husband Shawn; and nephews Daniel, Christopher, Austin, Steven, Andrew and Jonathan Lape; and her great-nephew Hudson William McDade. She will also be remembered by her roommate Jeanne Jacko. Viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until time of service 11 a.m. Wednesday at Maple Spring Church of the Brethren with Rev. Guy Myers presiding. Interment Maple Spring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Frederick County Humane Society, www.fchs.org or to National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, www.ovarian.org/about-us.php.
