  3. NYC Teacher Accused Of Raping Underage Student At LI Motel

    Tara  Driscoll was assigned to teach English, but it's the lesson police say she taught at a Long Island motel that got her a failing grade and a rape charge. The 33-year-old teacher, who lives in Bayshore, surrendered to Nassau County detectives Friday. The criminal complaint accuses the woman of driving an underage student to the Capri Motel in Lynbrook last March and engaging in oral sex with him.

    A Nassau County grand just indicted Marlon Bernier, 25, and Ricardo Louis, 22, on multiple counts of felony animal cruelty charges for running a pit bull fighting enterprise. The two men allegedly bred and trained pit bulls out of their Long Island home pitting the dogs against one another and filing their teeth to make them sharper.

  15. DA: Teens Paid College Student Thousands To Take SATs

    It's a scam that sounds more like a Hollywood movie plot than a real life crime scheme, but it is very real:  a half dozen students with low grades got sky-high scores on their SATs -- for a price.  Many of those students are now in prestigious colleges, but they spent Tuesday in handcuffs, and so did their ghost test-taker.  He could ultimately fail the test to stay out of prison for his crimes, and the prosecutor who has brought him to justice says that his case should set a precedent for national reform in how the test is administered.

    Police are still hunting for a vicious pit bull that mauled a woman in the parking lot of a Merrick senior home Thursday.  The two dogs -- a grey pit bull that was shot and killed after the attack, and a second tan-and-white pit that is till on the loose -- can be seen in a photo released by police Friday.  Residents are warned to be on the lookout for the dog.
