    Dorothy A. (Baker ) Schachte, 90, formerly of Southwest died May 31, 2011 in Westmoreland Manor. Born August 28, 1920 in Southwest (Hecla). She  was a daughter of the late John and Lydia (Hoyman) Baker. She is survived by her daughter Beverly Kanar and husband Rudy of Uniontown and son Gary Schachte and wife Cindy of Sweet, Idaho, four granddaughters Jill Bellush and husband Ed, Amber Hildbreth, Janet Moore Andrews, Katie Gepford and husband Cassey and step granddaughter Julia Jackson and husband Don, five great-grandchildren SR John Machesky, Jordan Bellush, Eddie Bellush, Kellie Wilson and Gary Schachte and step granddaughters Krystal and Allison Jackson, also sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. In 1997 Dorothy lost her beloved husband of 54 years Frank Schachte Jr. and beloved grandson Gary Schachte Jr. Dorothy was the last surviving member of her family losing her twin brother Donald Baker in 2001. Dorothy’s son and daughter would like to express a very special thank you to all of the staff on C-3 at Westmoreland Manor and to Heartland Hospice and all of their staff for giving her the wonderful care with loving hearts throughout the time she made the Manor her home. Also thank you to our family and friends who showed their love and support with visits, phone calls and beautiful cards. Mother, God blessed you with a pair of wings, removing you from all pain and sorrow. Our greatest comfort is knowing that you have been reunited with the love of your life, our father. We know that you were both so proud of our family. We were blessed to have you in our lives for the time God chose to share you. If love alone could have saved you, you would have lived, forever! Instead you will live forever on, in us and always in our hearts. We love you. Your Son and Daughter. Family and friends will be received 2 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Jay A. Hoffer Funeral Home, Norvelt, where her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Martin Wright officiating. Interment to follow at St. John’s Union Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Twp.
