  15. Ralph Eugene Lape, 86, formerly of Jennerstown

    Ralph Eugene Lape, 86, passed peacefully on June 20, 2011 at the Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral, Fla. Ralph was born on July 24, 1924, in Jennerstown, Pa. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Virginia (McAvoy) and his father Augustus Otto Lape. Also deceased are sister Edna (Roddy), Alma (Lunquest), Maxine (Baker) and Doris (Troyer). He was also deceased by his brothers Foster and Bill. He is survived by his sister Lois (Brougher) and his brother Charles Lape of Sipesville, Pa. He will be dearly missed by his loving daughter, Karen (Lape) White. Mr. Lape and Karen have resided in Cape Coral, Fla., since June 1979. He is survived by his grandchildren Tara Crumpton of Homosassa, Fla. and Bradley White of Tampa, Fla. There are two great-grandchildren, Blake and Taylor Crumpton. Ralph graduated from Boswell High School as well as his sweetheart, Betty Goss in the class of 1942. Ralph was inducted into the Navy as a Gunnermate 3rd Class, during World  War II. He was stationed on the USS Bogue air craft carrier. He returned and married Betty Louise Goss, who had graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1945. Ralph lived in Somerset for 58 years and sold many cars at S&A Chevrolet, to family and friends. Ralph worked 9 years for the city of Cape Coral Parks and Recreation Departs. His wife Betty passed on January 2003. On Oct. 1, 2006, he married a close school friend Lorraine (Fulton) of Boswell. He is survived by Lorraine and new family. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. July 23 at the Hopewell Methodist Church in Hollsopple, Pa. To celebrate Ralph’s life his family requests that all family and friends attend a luncheon at Lamonica’s Restaurant. The family wishes to thank everyone for attending this service and especially all the angels at Hope Hospice who gave him care and respect with dignity during his stay.

    Karen M. White, 63, Cape Coral, Fla. was taken by God at home on October 8, 2011. A 1965 graduate of Somerset High School, Karen became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and loved spending time with her family and pets. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Elizabeth “Betty” Lape. She is survived by her children: Tara E. Crumpton (Marc), Bradley M. White, and grandchildren Blake and Taylor AnnMarie Crumpton of Fla. Karen was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She will forever live on in our memories, hearts, and prayers. The family is planning a private celebration of her life and is asking in lieu of flowers that a charitable contribution be made to the Humane Society of Somerset County, 204 Whitetail Road Somerset, Pa. 15501, in recognition of Karen’s life.
