  12. Cooking Up a Storm: A Spring Harvest Cooking Demonstration at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum on April 21

    Celebrate the season by learning how Native Americans once cooked their food, and what they ate in the early spring at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum's spring harvest cooking demonstration. Seeqan Keepunumoo&ocirc;k, which means &quot;spring harvest," will feature Museum Educator Lea Hopkinds (Niantic/Narragansett) as she gives an overview of traditional cooking techniques of southern New England indigenous peoples in the early 17th century, and uses food available during the early spring, including fresh greens, rabbit, fish and wild fowl eggs, and food stored over the winter as well. She'll also talk about the meaning behind the feast in Native cultures. This program is free with museum admission and free to museum members. <strong><em></em></strong>
