7. Off on the Right Foot

The 2013 Greater New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade is upon us once again. This year, it falls exactly a week before the holiday, on Sunday, March 10. Stepping off at 1:30 p.m. sharp, the crew of marchers makes its way from Chapel St. at Derby Ave., down to Grove St. at Orange St. Street closures are a given. And rules are rules, so do all your boozing inside one of the many adult beverage establishments along the parade route (and support local business in the process). Parking can be a nightmare if you don't live within walking distance, so Dunn's Pub (2345 Whitney Ave., Hamden, 203-996-9712) is running a shuttle to and from the parade route, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. Your $10 fare also scores you some breakfast, and kids under 10 are free. Keep the sauce off the bus, too.
