  3. Flooded Roads and Sinkholes Plaguing Western Lebanon County

    Numerous roads are closed to flooding throughout Western Lebanon County at this hour due to the heavy rains the region continues to experience.  The deluge has also resulted in the opening of new sinkholes in the Palmyra area, said Western Lebanon County Regional Emergency Management Agency (WLCREMA) Coordinator John Brieve.  WLCREMA is the authorized emergency management agency for the Borough of Palmyra and South Londonderry and South Annville Townships, as well as the town of Mt. Gretna.

  5. Dauphin County: Shipoke will be evacuated

    Residents in the Shipoke neighborhood in the City of Harrisburg will be ordered to evacuate this morning, awaiting exact time from the City of Harrisburg.
Flood Prone Areas include any community near streams, tributaries, low lying areas and areas within limited storm water management.  
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), total rain fall is 7.71" from midnight September 6th through midnight September 7th; which is a record amount recorded in 24 hour period
Swatara Creek at Hershey is currently at 20.59ft (flood stage is 7.0ft) expected to crest at 24.5ft at 2:00PM today (9/8/11).
Swatara Creek Middletown expected to crest at 22.4ft (flood stage is 11.0ft), 7:00PM today (9/8/2011)
Susquehanna River Harrisburg is currently at 18.92ft (stage at 17.0ft) and expected to crest at 28.5ft, 02:00 AM on Saturday (9/10/2011).

  7. 170 State Roads Closed Due to Flooding in South Central Pennsylvania as of 2 p.m

    PennDOT announces the following additional roads have closed in south central Pennsylvania since the last report issued to the media at 5 a.m. today (current report runs from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.). These road closures are in PennDOT Engineering District 8, which includes Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York counties. There are currently no state road closures in Franklin County.

    I'm not a big fan of the Connecticut Siting Council. They rammed super-hot high power lines deep into a quiet Middletown neighborhood right next to homes after a series of sham hearings. It was obvious they planned to do that even before the hearings started.
