3. Love Trip

Where do you go for a romantic holiday? That depends. Some people get all mushy just thinking about a side-by-side couple’s massage at a pricey destination spa. Or feeding each other oysters at some far-off coastal resort. Others need a shot of adrenaline to ignite those love flames — say, a bit of heli-skiing in the Canadian Rockies or a predawn hike up an Indonesian volcano (an active one). The short answer is that romantic moments are where you find them, which isn’t necessarily where you expect to find them. We’ve pulled together some ideas for romantic destinations that are slightly off the radar. Who knows? You might just get lucky.

  7. Weekend Preview: Miami Heat's Mario Chalmers to host Fort Lauderdale fundraiser Saturday

Whether in a cartoony red-and-blue Super Mario costume bouncing around the Miami Heat’s “Harlem Shake” video or in his work clothes stepping in for a cramping LeBron James as a savior in Game 4 of last year’s NBA Finals, the contributions of Mario Chalmers are too often overlooked.

  13. On the road, off the court: Where Bulls play

In a regular NBA season encompassing 72 games, the <a href="http://chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls">Chicago Bulls will travel to 23 cities from coast to coast over the course of 51/2 months, visiting a few of those cities (New York and Los Angeles) more than once. Though they travel by private jet (except for a couple of bus trips to Milwaukee), it's a punishing schedule sleep-wise because players and coaches don't leave for their next destination until after a game. With hotel arrival times at 2 a.m. or 3 a.m., there isn't much time to explore their destinations, but players certainly have their favorite spots to land, usually related to family and warm weather.

  17. Travel tips from Los Angeles Times readers

Go ahead — we dare you to read this list of travel tips and not clap your hand to your head and say, "Why didn't I think of that?" When we asked readers to contribute their best tips for travel, we were overwhelmed by the number and comsengen (a word we just coined that's short for "common sense genius") of the ideas. Do you always forget your phone charger in your hotel room? Do you wonder why, when your flight is canceled, you end up standing in long lines while others whisk off to their new flight? And how in the world do some people easily convert whatever the local currency is while you're standing there doing math in your head? Here are some of the hows and whys that can make your travel easier. So grab a cup of coffee and a couple of aspirin for the headache you'll get from smacking yourself on the head. And if you have a tip to contribute, send it to travel@latimes.com.
