7. Pedestrians: Be cautious near hockey arena site

Q: A serious accident or injury could result if some corrections are not made along Linden Street bordering the site of the Mayor's Ice Palace. My wife drives on Linden Street at night for her work commute, and she's worried about the chain-link fencing installed along the Ice Palace border, to the outer edge of the Linden sidewalk. Every night someone or several people are walking on the travel lane of Linden, coming east against traffic, without reflective clothing, sometimes pushing kids in strollers. Instead of building a 'roofed' scaffold over the sidewalk like the one that sheltered the sidewalk along the nearby Americus Centre building for several years, Ice Palace officials extended the fencing to the curb on Linden, forcing people to walk in the street. Someone is going to be hit and injured, or worse. A scaffold should be installed on Linden for pedestrian safety.
