  1. Can football be made safer?

In the last couple of years, the country has become much more aware of the dangers, particularly to the head, of playing football. More than 2,500 former players are suing the NFL, saying the league deliberately hid data about the effects of repeated hits to the head. Some former players suffer dementia; a couple have committed suicide. Former star Terry Bradshaw, among others, said if he had a son he wouldn’t let him play football. Many fans now feel guilty about watching football, particularly pro football. Parents of youth football players are increasingly concerned. Can the game be made safer? Some say yes, with “hit counts” for youth players and immediate medical attention. Others disagree.

  5. Giants dominance made for short Series, low ratings

  9. Steelers Come Up Short in Tennessee

What goes around comes around for the Steelers. Less than a week after Pittsburgh kicked a game-winning field goal as time expires to beat the Eagles, the Titans do the same thing to the Steelers in Nashville 26-23. Shaun Swisham missed a 54-yard attempt with less than a minute to go in the game for the visitors. Tennessee kicker Rob Bironas split the uprights on the final play of the game to lift the Titans to victory.
