3. Ravens learned the hard way to focus on Holmes

Santonio Holmes had just one catch last Sunday and three the week before that, but if you are worried that the Ravens might overlook the New York Jets' speedy wide receiver Sunday night, you obviously have a selective memory.

7. Ravens to keep an eye on Jets' Keller

The New York Jets’ wide receiving corps boasts a speedster in Santonio Holmes, a red-zone target in Plaxico Burress and a technician in Derrick Mason.
The New York Jets’ wide receiving corps boasts a speedster in Santonio Holmes, a red-zone target in Plaxico Burress and a technician in Derrick Mason. But none of those guys leads the Jets in receiving. That honor goes to tight end Dustin Keller,...

11. Three things that could go right/wrong for Ravens vs. Jets

Three things that need to go RIGHT …
Three things that need to go RIGHT … 1. Provide a healthy serving of Rice. The Jets’ run defense was gouged for 234 yards by Darren McFadden and the Raiders last week. The Jets feel it was an aberration, but Ray Rice could test that theory....

15. Jeff Zrebiec's scouting report: Ravens vs. Jets

RAVENS RUN OFFENSE VS. JETS RUN DEFENSE: The Jets have spent the days leading up to the game answering questions about what has happened to their run defense. Unable to set the edge and deal with the Oakland Raiders’ speed last week, they were gashed for 234 yards on the ground, an average of 7.3 yards per carry by Darren McFadden and company. The Jets currently rank 31st in the NFL in run defense, a surprise considering that they ranked third in the NFL in that category last season, and they boast fast and athletic linebackers in David Harris and Bart Scott. The Ravens didn’t run the ball a lot last week against the St. Louis Rams, but they still accumulated 168 yards on the ground and averaged 6.5 yards per carry. The Ravens are eighth in the league with 383 rushing yards and Ray Rice is ninth in the league with 231 yards despite ranking 20th in the NFL with 41 carries. Rice was shut down by the Jets in last year’s season opener, gaining 43 yards on 21 carries. It’s likely that the Ravens will try to establish him early.

17. Pre-snap read: Ravens-Jets

There’s a reason this family feud will again be fought in front of a nationally televised audience. As long as John Harbaugh and Rex Ryan, who were both candidates for the Ravens’ head coaching gig after the 2007 season, run the Ravens and the Jets, respectively, this rivalry will remain intense.

19. After solid first quarter, Flacco flounders vs. Jets

As great as the Ravens' defense was Sunday night – and it was magnificent in a 34-17 rout of the New York Jets – it was the resourcefulness of quarterback Joe Flacco on third down that helped Baltimore land critical early blows in this bare-knuckle fight.

23. How the Ravens got here: A recap of the first four games

The Ravens are in an enviable position as they head into their bye weekend. They are 3-1 and in first place of the AFC North. They have already beaten the two teams — Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets — that played for the conference championship last season, and they've done it by a combined 69-24 score. Up next are the Houston Texans in another potential playoff preview game.
