1. Quick hits: Now that was a letdown

The Ravens were flying high this week after their 35-7 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the season opener. But they crashed down to earth with a thud in an all-around ugly loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday afternoon. Here are my quick-hit thoughts after the Ravens didn’t resemble the team we saw a week ago and were outplayed on both sides of the ball in a 26-13 loss in Nashville:

  3. Fantasy Fodder: So Jamaal Charles got hurt; now what?

When Jamaal Charles tore his ACL on Sunday, any hopes the Kansas City Chiefs had of making it back to the NFL playoffs were shredded. The season-ending injury to Charles, a top-five pick in most fantasy leagues, is also a devastating blow to fantasy...

  7. Derrick Mason steps up his game

Despite being cut before the start of the Ravens training camp, former Baltimore wide receiver Derrick Mason has played well for the Jets, and had six catches in New York's loss to Oakland on Sunday.

  11. Ravens learned the hard way to focus on Holmes

Santonio Holmes had just one catch last Sunday and three the week before that, but if you are worried that the Ravens might overlook the New York Jets' speedy wide receiver Sunday night, you obviously have a selective memory.

  17. Jeff Zrebiec's scouting report: Ravens vs. Jets

RAVENS RUN OFFENSE VS. JETS RUN DEFENSE: The Jets have spent the days leading up to the game answering questions about what has happened to their run defense. Unable to set the edge and deal with the Oakland Raiders’ speed last week, they were gashed for 234 yards on the ground, an average of 7.3 yards per carry by Darren McFadden and company. The Jets currently rank 31st in the NFL in run defense, a surprise considering that they ranked third in the NFL in that category last season, and they boast fast and athletic linebackers in David Harris and Bart Scott. The Ravens didn’t run the ball a lot last week against the St. Louis Rams, but they still accumulated 168 yards on the ground and averaged 6.5 yards per carry. The Ravens are eighth in the league with 383 rushing yards and Ray Rice is ninth in the league with 231 yards despite ranking 20th in the NFL with 41 carries. Rice was shut down by the Jets in last year’s season opener, gaining 43 yards on 21 carries. It’s likely that the Ravens will try to establish him early.

  19. Pre-snap read: Ravens-Jets

There’s a reason this family feud will again be fought in front of a nationally televised audience. As long as John Harbaugh and Rex Ryan, who were both candidates for the Ravens’ head coaching gig after the 2007 season, run the Ravens and the Jets, respectively, this rivalry will remain intense.

  23. Step into the rivalry: Ravens vs. Steelers

After years of watching the Ravens and the Steelers play a series of violent, important, memorable football games, it's not hard to make the case that this AFC North clash is the best rivalry in sports. Even though it hasn't been around for as long some of the most storied rivalries like Bears-Packers, Harvard-Yale or Red Sox-Yankees, it more than makes up for it in passion and in thunder.
