1. Just remember, the Ravens secondary could be worse

Bring back Frank Walker.
Bring back Frank Walker. For those who are overly concerned about the Ravens problems in the secondary, that puts it all in perspective. It could be worse. Walker, nicknamed "Backdraft" because he was always getting burned, could be the starting...

3. For a change, Ravens have more questions on defense

It's early in the season, and usually there are questions about the offense, but my how times have changed.
It's early in the season, and usually there are questions about the offense, but my how times have changed. There are no concerns about Joe Flacco or the pass vs. run ratio. No one is second-guessing Cam Cameron's play calling or challenging the Ravens'...

5. Rookie Courtney Upshaw has yet to impress, but there is time for him to improve

Rookie outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw has struggled with weight and shoulder problems, but he still should be more impressive than what he has shown in the preseason.

Since the 2000 Super Bowl season, the Ravens have set a standard for greatness on defense. The torch has been passed on from a Rod Woodson and Peter Boulware to a Haloti Ngata and Ed Reed.

19. Ravens news, notes and opinions

The common conclusion from the Ravens’ decision to re-sign Bryant McKinnie was that the organization wasn’t yet comfortable with the idea of Kelechi Osemele starting at left tackle. I’m sure there is plenty of truth to that even though team officials suggest that’s not the case. However, the reason why the McKinnie move was a no-brainer – at least in my mind – was that the Ravens couldn’t risk potentially weakening two positions along the offensive line. Osemele may very well develop into a quality left tackle in the NFL. However, who replaces Osemele at left guard? Osemele was dominant at times when he moved from right tackle to left guard for the playoff run. Could Jah Reid play at that high of a level? How about Ramon Harewood or fifth-round draft pick Rick Wagner? The Ravens’ offense made too many strides last year to start the coming season with a completely new pairing on the left side of the offensive
