1. The Ravens are one tough bunch

The Ravens have been lucky, received divine intervention and may be one of the worst 9-2 teams in NFL history, but the one characteristic that stands out about this team is toughness.

The Ravens are six games away from completing the 2012 regular season, and they are approaching the time when a team might consider signing its franchise quarterback to a contract extension.

A week ago, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said there were no easy or homecoming games in the National Football League.

7. Flacco goes about his business as usual

I heard a fan on sports talk radio wonder if Joe Flacco was having nightmares about getting hit by fearsome Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware when the Ravens meet Dallas Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium.

9. In September, even an ugly win is a win

OK, it wasn't pretty, but it was effective.
OK, it wasn't pretty, but it was effective. At this time of the year, that's all that counts. If the Ravens play in December like they did Thursday night against Cleveland, then they have problems. But after playing four games in 18 days, who cares if...

11. Kelechi Osemele should start for Ravens at left guard

Ravens rookie offensive lineman Kelechi Osemele says the coaching staff has told him he would play a very substantial role this season.

17. Ravens news, notes and opinions after Wednesday's OTAs

As I expected, there was a lot more made of who didn’t show up at this week’s organized team activities than who did. The absences of Terrell Suggs, Haloti Ngata and Vonta Leach in particular seemed to spur the most questions. Again, the workouts are voluntary and some players choose to stay home and work out on their own. Coach John Harbaugh pointed out that the team didn’t see Ray Lewis much – if at all – in the offseason. Ed Reed wasn’t exactly a fixture at OTAs either. And Joe Flacco mentioned that Anquan Boldin wasn’t traditionally at the facility this time of year either. The comments weren’t made to disparage any of the three players but the point was made. The Ravens knew that those players would be ready to go when needed, which is the same feeling they have with the likes of Suggs, Ngata, Leach and Marshal Yanda, who also was a no-show. The Ravens have 90 players on their roster and all but about six of them were on the field in some capacity. And another veteran, Jacoby Jones, is expected to arrive today after his third-place finish in Dancing with the Stars. That should be far more the story than the handful of players who didn’t show at a workout they technically didn’t have to be at.

23. Versatility could be key in Ravens' crowded offensive line picture

Over the last couple of weeks, the Ravens have added and retained seven offensive linemen, further complicating what figures to be one of the more competitive -- if not interesting -- position battles in training camp.
