1. Ravens defense may lean on Haloti Ngata more this season

The word was out. There was no way you were blocking him with one guy. He was already one of the most disruptive defensive players in the NFL, and now he was emerging as a front-runner for the AFC Defensive Player of the Year .

5. For a change, Ravens have more questions on defense

It's early in the season, and usually there are questions about the offense, but my how times have changed.
It's early in the season, and usually there are questions about the offense, but my how times have changed. There are no concerns about Joe Flacco or the pass vs. run ratio. No one is second-guessing Cam Cameron's play calling or challenging the Ravens'...

11. Observations after first Ravens OTA viewing

The Ravens will finish up the first of three voluntary offseason team activities today, though they’ll do it outside the glare of the media. Yesterday was the one day for media availability, and while no big news came out of it, it was still good to see some action after so much attention has been placed on off-the-field stories over the past couple of months. Making any conclusions after a two-hour practice -- which did not include some of the team’s top veteran players, including running back Ray Rice, linebacker Ray Lewis and safety Ed Reed, and featured most of the players in jerseys, gym shorts and no shoulder pads -- would be foolish. However, I think it is appropriate to make a couple of observations:

15. Courtney Upshaw sheds pounds, gains experience

Every day that Courtney Upshaw walks into the Ravens’ practice facility in Owings Mills, he steps on a scale. The six or seven pounds shed since the Ravens selected him in the second round of the NFL draft is proof of the hard work the outside linebacker has put in since late April.
