  9. The Three Faces of Eddie

    Zap2It.com
With his brazen gifts for mimicry, Eddie Murphy may now be the Peter Sellers of blockbuster toilet comedy movies. His "Norbit" is a comedy for masochists--an often awful parade of flatulent gags about big butts, sadistic relationships and sexual idiocy,...

  11. 'Norbit'

Physical transformation or not, "Norbit" is unlikely to send Eddie Murphy back to the Kodak Theatre in a year's time. But why grouse when the movie qualifies him for even greater honors? Surely some humanitarian organization will recognize the selflessness with which Murphy has taken three of the movie's major roles, thus saving two other actors from a nasty black mark on their résumés.

  13. 'Year Without a Santa Claus' Works Up a 'Real' Sweat

Tackling an iconic character like Santa Claus poses risks for any actor. You just wouldn't think heatstroke would be among them.
Tackling an iconic character like Santa Claus poses risks for any actor. You just wouldn't think heatstroke would be among them. Yet that's exactly one of the biggest challenges John Goodman faced while starring in "The Year Without a Santa Claus," which...

  15. 'Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo' and 'The Letter: An American Town and the 'Somali Invasion''

Rob Schneider returns as an unlikely male prostitute in "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo," who after some mishaps in Malibu heads for further adventures in Amsterdam, where he finds his former pimp T.J. (Eddie Griffin) suspected of being a Jack the Ripper-type killer of male hustlers. T.J. is more alarmed at being viewed as possibly gay, an unsettling thought in a macho extreme gross-out comedy reveling in all manner of sexual activity and involving a wide range of physical deformities and bathroom humor.

    Zap2It.com
It may not be as well-known as "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" or "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town," but among Christmas-special fans of a certain age, "The Year Without a Santa Claus" has a definite cult following. Someone at NBC must like the Rankin-...

  23. 'Scary Movie 3'

    Times Staff Writer
"Scary Movie 3" is, fortunately, a sequel in title only. The first entry was an amusing sendup of Dimension Films' "Scream" movies, but the second was a gross-out comedy that was more gross than funny. For this one, Dimension brought in spoof-master David...
