1. Lakers need a dominant Pau Gasol to defeat the Rockets

With the season on the line, the Lakers (44-37) should have the advantage over the Houston Rockets (45-36) at power forward with 7-foot Pau Gasol. After a dismal shooting night (3 for 17) in a Lakers victory over the San Antonio Spurs, Gasol needs a comeback night offensively against the Rockets. The difficult part for the Lakers will be guarding Houston's outside shooters in a game that might be their last of the season if the lose.

  3. Lakers: Week 20 predictions

The Lakers won three of four games in Week 19, climbing above .500 (33-31) and into a potential playoff seeding. The coming week will be a difficult one with three out of four on the road, including games on successive nights, in Orlando and Atlanta. ...

  7. For What It's Worth: February 21st

For What it’s Worth---on this February 21 -- Do coaches even have plays to try and get a game winning shot with? All you ever see in college hoops anymore is, usually, a guard holding the ball until about 0:09 seconds are left. Then he usually works off a high screen to try to get a look going to the basket. I get the idea—if you don’t make the shot—maybe you force the foul. Maybe it’s just the games I’m watching, but it rarely seems to work.

  9. NBA trades: Ronnie Brewer to OKC, J.J. Reddick to Bucks and more

While the biggest news as the NBA's trade deadline came and went Thursday was that there was no real big news, several transactions that did take place are making headlines a day later now that the dust has settled.

  11. NBA's trade deadline is almost a non-event

The NBA’s trade deadline was D.O.A. There was little movement of note Thursday, unless you count part-time starting shooting guard J.J. Redick going from one bad team (Orlando) to a middling playoff contender (Milwaukee) as part of a six-player...

  15. The Lakers are pointless without Steve Nash

The Lakers are 7-8, and it really shouldn't be a surprise. Is there a general manager with a job who would trade Steve Nash and Steve Blake for Darius Morris and Chris Duhon? Morris has played relatively well in stretches, but he's a young, second-...

  19. Lakers: Week 4 predictions

The Lakers have climbed to eighth place in the Western Conference with a 5-5 record. Despite their 1-4 start, the team is only one win behind predictions for Weeks 1, 2 and 3. Already with Coach Mike D'Antoni's influence, the Lakers have raised their...

  21. Interim Coach Bernie Bickerstaff tries to keep it simple for Lakers

He was asked and so he served, but Bernie Bickerstaff gave the distinct impression he will be happy when his term as the Lakers' interim coach ends and he can go back to being a low-profile assistant coach with nothing more pressing to worry about than getting to practice on time.
