The 60th ACC basketball tournament convenes Thursday at its traditional home, Greensboro, N.C. But with a top seed hailing from palm tree and stone crab country, the event could be a showcase for the nouveau riche.

  11. Teel Time: Final 10 seconds at Miami could haunt Virginia on Selection Sunday

If Shane Larkin hits a runner in traffic, fine. Same if Kenny Kadji slingshots in a contested 3-pointer, or Reggie Johnson burrows through a low-post trap to muscle in a bank shot.

  13. 'Hoos Fall 54-50 at Miami

Joe Harris scored 16 points but it wasn't enough for Virginia to beat Miami.  Freshman Evan Nolte tied the game at 50 with 14 seconds left, hitting a three pointer off an inbounds play.  But UVA lost Reggie Johnson on the ensuing possession, and Shane Larkin found him for the game winning lay up.  Durand Scott stole the inbounds pass and iced the game at the line as Miami stayed unbeaten in the ACC with the 54 to 50 win.

At 10-0 in the ACC and No. 3 in the Associated Press national poll, Miami absolutely has national-championship potential. No stranger to such teams, North Carolina coach Roy Williams is piloting the Hurricanes' bandwagon.

  19. Teel Time: ACC leader Miami poised in win at Virginia Tech

From 1998-2000, Miami went 39-13 in the Big East, earned three consecutive NCAA tournament bids and reached a Sweet 16. Today’s Hurricanes were elementary-school kids then, and suffice to say they are unaccustomed to their new-found prominence.
