The Chicago Bulls, a professional basketball franchise, joined the National Basketball Association in 1966. Their 33 victories that season remain the most ever by an expansion team. Johnny "Red" Kerr, now the longtime team broadcaster, earned NBA Coach of the Year Honors that first season. The Bulls rose to international prominence during the 1990s when, led by Michael Jordan, they won six NBA titles in eight seasons. The Bulls rose to international prominence during the 1990s when, led by Michael Jordan, they won six NBA titles in eight seasons. Those teams were abundant in colorful personalities such as coach Phil Jackson, Dennis Rodman and Scottie Pippen. Bulls games became a destination for basketball fans and celebrities alike. Home games included a tradition, now copied by every team in the league, of dimming the lights and introducing the players to music. After the sixth NBA title in 1998, the team was dismantled. Rightly or wrongly, team Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf and then-general manager Jerry Krause received the brunt of blame for alienating Jordan, who had said he wouldn't play for any other coach but Jackson. Jordan retired. Jackson went on to coach the Los Angeles Lakers. Scottie Pippen got traded to the Houston Rockets. The Bulls began a long period of mediocrity under coach Tim Floyd. A recent resurgence, led by former player and current general manager John Paxson, has the Bulls viable again.

Recognition tough to come by for Heat's Erik Spoelstra
It is a subject Erik Spoelstra would rather avoid. Ever since he was put in this situation, he's run from the topic of his abilities as a coach. The everlasting smile disappears the moment Spoelstra, now in his fifth season with the Miami Heat, is asked...

Breaking down the Bulls roster
Derrick Rose 2013-14 salary, status: $17,632,688. 100 percent return. Has such a beloved player ever endured a more bizarre season? On the few occasions Rose talked publicly, he always came across as the most unfazed guy in the room. Look for him to...

Hyde5: Who do Heat want, Knicks or Pacers?
1. Who do the Heat want, the Knicks or the Pacers? Easy, the Knicks. They’re the type of outside-shooting, borderline-defensive team the Heat can eat up in the playoffs and will pose limited physical danger. The Pacers aren't a great team, but...Tags: Carmelo Anthony, National Basketball Association, Nick Saban, Jeffrey Loria, New York Knicks

Heat believe they can reach another playoff level
South Florida Sun SentinelPerhaps it's because the bar has been set so high. Winning 45 of their last 48 games can do that. But even with an 8-1 postseason record, with seven of the victories by double figures, the Miami Heat believe there still is another level that can be...Tags: Dwyane Wade, Job Layoffs, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Chris Bosh

Rose has much to prove
Before Game 3 of the Bulls-Heat series at the United Center, Scottie Pippen presented the honorary game ball. Seeing Pippen looking as lean and athletic as ever, I facetiously asked on Twitter whether he could stay and guard LeBron James for 10 to 12...
