  1. Viewpoint: Coming home to some changes in scenery

    After being gone for a few months it was a shock seeing the gigantic wind machines for the first time after driving down Mountain Springs Grade. Although I knew they were to be installed, I must have pushed the event to the back of my mind. The desert landscape is no longer the same. I know there are always changes after a person is away from home for awhile, but usually the changes are minor, such as a neighbor’s home freshly painted, or landscaping replaced, or a new car turning up in someone’s yard.

    Against a backdrop of stunning visuals, British pop music and fall fashions, Macy's presented Glamorama at the Harris Theater on Aug. 10. Themed "The British Invasion: The Music Then. The Fashion Now," the night included a fashion show with 43 models and more than 150 outfits.     Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Wichita helped make the lives of children in the Wichita area a little better on August 30. They donated over $62,000 in grants to Kansas non-profits that are dedicated to improving the lives of children.
