  1. Today's Buzz: What rights for bombing suspect?

The arrest of a Dzhokhar Tsarnaev following an intense manhunt that shut down Boston and surrounding areas on Friday has generated a debate over whether the suspect should be treated like most other criminal defendants. Authorities want to question Tsarnaev (though his throat injury may make that difficult) before reading him his Miranda rights, that brief statement advising a defendant he can remain silent and request a lawyer. But groups like the ACLU say that exemption can be used only in narrow circumstances where public safety is at risk. Similarly, there is a call to label Tsarnaev an enemy combatant, which would affect his rights as well. What do you think? Should the justice system treat Tsarnaev as it would other U.S. citizens? Or should his rights be curtailed because of his suspected involvement in a terrorist plot? Talk about it!

  11. Torture without excuses

The autopsy gave a spare account of how the 52-year-old man died. He suffered blunt force injuries on his torso and legs, and abrasions on his left wrist indicated he had been tied or shackled down. One of his neck bones was fractured. Death came "as a result of asphyxia (lack of oxygen to the brain) due to strangulation," and it was ruled a homicide.
