  12. Manheim Auto Auction Thief hits security officer making his getaway

    After security caught him stealing car parts, a New York man trying to get away in his car struck one security officer and came close to hitting another at the Manheim Auto Auction this morning. Randy Weiss, 40, of Atlantic Beach, New York, was eventually stopped by State Police on the PA Turnpike in Chester County. He faces numerous charges, including two counts of Aggravated Assault; Simple Assault; Recklessly Endangering Another Person (2 counts); Theft by Unlawful Taking; Theft from Motor Vehicle; and Accident Involving Death or Personal Injury. Weiss was arraigned this morning and placed in Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail. Police were able to recover the items taken from the Auction, which are described as 'high end' auto parts. The value of these items unknown at this time.
