    For the past 20 years I have owned a reverse osmosis portable water unit.  As with all reverse osmosis units, there is about 5 gallons of unfiltered tap water produced for every 1 gallon of water purified. I set up my unit next to my washing machine and run the reject water tube into the washing machine instead of down the drain.  I also empty my dehumidifier water into old plastic jugs for my plant water.
