2. Ian Ziering to be a Chippendale. Miranda Kerr confirms rumors.

Rumors recently swirled that Miranda Kerr wasn't going to continue under contract with Victoria's Secret. Kerr now confirms it is true, but says she has agreed to walk in this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. 4. L.A. house fits family heirlooms into vintage-modern design mix

When Mark Fay heard that the F.P. Fay Building was about to be demolished, the “True Blood” sound engineer drove to downtown Los Angeles to see the building named for his great-grandfather. That day, Easter Sunday, he discovered the building had already been knocked down, with little left but some ironwork and Fay Building signage on a piece of marble.

Tribune Newspapers
Small things turn transcendent in Parisian hands, whether it's the toss of a scarf or the tilt of a sconce. That savoir-faire has been well-documented as part of Parisian wardrobes, less so in their homes. In "New Paris Style" (Thames & Hudson, $40),...

12. Majoring in chic at L.A.'s fashion schools

In a bustling part of downtown L.A., a high-rise is teeming with stylish young women in short skirts and full makeup wheeling small suitcases in and out of elevators on their way to class. They're students at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, where, down the hall from a flat-screen TV broadcasting a runway show, past a plexiglass case of high-fashion Barbies, two of their peers are consulting with Mary Stephens, the school's self-described "big boss."¶"This is a very new-looking shape here," says Stephens, FIDM's director of fashion design. She is talking to Alejandro Ortega, one of 11 students the school has accepted into its advanced fashion design program this year and one of the 8,000 students enrolled on FIDM's four California campuses.

22. Fashion Diary: New energy to infuse men's fall-winter 2011-12 European collections

The showing of the major men's fall-winter 2011-12 European collections, which this season run Jan. 15 to 18 in Milan and Jan. 19 to 23 in Paris, are the traditional opening salvo in a seemingly endless globe-spanning fashion marathon that doesn't wind down until the Halloween decorations go up. And, because of their pole position on the catwalk calendar, the men's shows often end up being more than the sum of their parts. They offer an opportunity to get an early bead on where menswear and women's wear designers — and the industry as a whole — might be headed in the new year.
