  3. Turkey, pie and politics? T-Day family friction

Ah, <span style=&quot;color: red;">Thanksgiving</span>. A little turkey, some cranberry mold, maybe apple pie with ice cream, some football on TV. Getting together with the cousins. Catching up beside the fire. Togetherness.

  5. COLUMN: Who's on Democrats' 'short list'?

Soon after the 1988 presidential election, pollsters asked Democrats whom they favored to be their party’s nominee in 1992. The strongest candidates were Sen. Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts and Gov. Mario M. Cuomo of New York. The governor of...

  7. McManus: Will it be Clinton? Cuomo? Warren?

Shortly after the 1988 presidential election, pollsters asked Democrats whom they favored to be their party's nominee in 1992. The strongest candidates were Sen. Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts and Gov. Mario M. Cuomo of New York. The governor of Arkansas, Bill Clinton, didn't even register.

  9. Congress ushering in new members, with old divide

WASHINGTON (AP) — Congress is ushering in the new and the old — dozens of eager freshmen determined to change Washington and the harsh reality of another stretch of bitterly divided government. The 113th Congress will convene Thursday at the...

  11. Bob Dole and the GOP's disability

Much ink has been spilled in recent weeks criticizing the Republican Party and its failed presidential candidate for a lack of compassion and obvious antipathy toward "47 percent" of the electorate (if not a bit more), so it was reassuring to see two of...

  13. GOP is attacking Rice to land another Senate seat

Your article, "New concerns arise after Rice, GOP senator meet," (Nov. 29) fails to mention what is generally accepted by insiders in Washington and that is that the Republican strategy behind the character assassination of Susan Rice is an attempt to...

  15. What did Susan Rice know and when did she know it?

We haven't heard much about the &quot;politics of personal destruction" since Bill Clinton. But if you thought the days of mean, personal, political attacks were over, just ask Susan Rice. The campaign against her -- led by John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Susan Collins, and Fox News -- is perhaps the ugliest, and most meaningless, ever.

  21. Ben Affleck May Be Running For Senate

Ben Affleck appeared in Washington yesterday to meet with Hillary Clinton and John Kerry about violence in the Congo. Affleck is founder of the Eastern Congo Initiative, which seeks to curb the massive number of killings in that country (5 million in 14 years). Despite his best efforts to downplay such claims, rumors are now surfacing that Affleck may run for Senate in the state of Massachusetts. There&rsquo;s little evidence that he&rsquo;s even considering a Senate run, but apparently we&rsquo;re so lazy in this country that anyone who shows interest in anything is a shrewd political ladder-climber. <a href=&quot;http://www.politico.com/blogs/click/2012/12/ben-affleck-mum-on-senate-run-152441.html" target="_blank">From Politico</a>:
