  1. Front & Center: Putnam: Water is state's top issue

Republican Adam Putnam was already a political veteran when he was elected Florida's agriculture commissioner in 2010. He had represented a U.S. House district that included his hometown of Bartow in Polk County for a decade, and had served four years in the Florida Legislature. In a recent interview with the Sentinel Editorial Board, he tamped down speculation that he might mount a primary challenge next year to Gov. Rick Scott, though he refused to rule out the possibility. He also talked about other hot topics he deals with in his current Cabinet spot, including water policy and immigration reform. Here are excerpts.

  9. Driver's license veto a big step backward

In the big picture of immigration reform, a state bill designed to help young immigrants obtain temporary driver's licenses proved a small step Gov. Rick Scott was unwilling to take. Last week, Scott vetoed HB 235, which would have made it easier for...

  11. Is it too much to ask for 5 minutes?

Let's just say I wouldn't go out of my way to attend a social gathering of politicians and activists making speeches. Trust me, I'd rather be forced to watch a "Say Yes to the Dress" marathon than sit through a couple of hours of political types glad-...

  17. What we think: State officials fiddling while the Wekiva dies
