5. Here's my predictions for Tuesday's election. Now share yours

The obvious drawback to offering predictions about Tuesday's election is that you might be wrong about key races and thus dent whatever reputation you have for political insight. "I don't know" is always a correct answer. "We'll see. Time will tell. It...

  19. Who's Obama's best choice to succeed Hillary?

After he was first elected in 2008, President Obama’s surprise pick for secretary of state was Hillary Clinton, his bitter rival from that year’s Democratic primaries. But Clinton has said she won’t stay for Obama’s second term. Obama has praised his ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, and she’d be a logical candidate to succeed Clinton. But Rice has come under fire from Republicans for reporting that the deadly Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya was a protest that got out of control, when it was really a terrorist attack. If Obama wants to avoid a political battle over the appointment, he might name veteran Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts or former Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska. Some even think he should bring back former Secretary of State Colin Powell, a Republican who served under President George W. Bush. Should he choose one of these candidates, or someone else? Talk about it!
