The Lookingglass Theatre announced Tuesday that the Frontera Grill/Topolobampo chef will be the star of "Rick Bayless in Cascabel," a circus show set in a Mexican boarding house in the 1940s. Bayless, according to our colleague Chris Jones, will "play a chef who tries to seduce a woman with no appetite by filling her heart with food." Dinner will be included with the ticket, which will cost upward of $205.

  5. Everyday Food's special issue? Lovin' the tips

I have always enjoyed Everyday Food, the mini mag with quick and delicious recipes from Martha Stewart's team. So when a special summer issue (its first full-sized version) arrived, we made a quick skim through, folding down the corners on pages with a few alluring simple recipes (the 8-ingredient cheddar-corn spoonbread, the 3-ingredient pesto-yogurt potato salad, among them), eyeballing the summer food festivals, celeb chef recipes (Tom Colicchio, Rick Bayless, John Besh, etc.)

  9. Wilco is maturing, but it is not growing soft

It was three days before Wilco was scheduled to leave Chicago to start its tour, and the band was running through songs on its newest album, "The Whole Love." Next up was "One Sunday Morning," a 12-minute cut that is at once the most traditional tune on the album and its most subtle, with slight melodic tweaks and instrumental adornments throughout.

The arrive-early dictum (to allow for screening delays) has resulted in airports full of travelers with time on their hands and the sure knowledge that the airlines have no intention of feeding them.
