  1. Ready, reserved

I have this problem. I made more New Year's Eve reservations than I can use. More than 100 of them, actually.
I have this problem. I made more New Year's Eve reservations than I can use. More than 100 of them, actually. Which is why, for the 12th straight year (and the 17th time in the past 19 years), I'll be giving them away to nimble-fingered readers who ask....

  5. A search for holiday cheer

Q: I have a co-worker and dear friend who seems to have met Mr. Might-Be-Right. The parents have all met and are completely copacetic. This is their first Christmas together and she wants to get him a few impressive things. He's a member of a wine-tasting club. She knows little about wine but would like to get him something that will make the club members sit up and go "hmm." He prefers red to white. Something interesting but not necessarily obvious. Price range is up to $75. She lives on Long Island but works and spends most of her weekends in New York City (Manhattan, to be precise). Any suggestions?

  7. Wines for the grand feast

No crazier culinary quilt do we weave than our annual Thanksgiving Day dinner. Most known life-forms are present on (or at) the table, many of them garroted by gravy. Thanksgiving dinner is truly a meal like no other.

  11. Phil Vettel recommends

Depending on your perspective, this year's Super Bowl is an intriguing battle between two fascinating opponents, or a who-cares clash between an annoying East Coast team and a slightly less-annoying East Coast team (I'll leave it to you to decide which is which).
