1. Good Form: Get out in front of thigh tightness

The fronts of your thighs can get very tight, especially if you play sports, train with weights or engage in any other physical activities. Remember to regularly stretch these muscles to help prevent knee, hip or back injuries. Here's one stretch that feels great and is easy to do.

Here's a terrific way to train your hamstrings (the muscles in the back of your thighs) and buttocks without overworking the fronts of your thighs. It's excellent for people who have sensitive knees and cannot perform squats or lunges.

Here are two variations of back arches that will help counter the effects of rounded shoulders. Slouching tends to shorten the muscles in the front of your body and can overstretch the muscles in the back. These moves reverse that action and help improve your posture.

  7. Fitness Fridays: Strength training: It's not just for guys

When I first started working out, all I focused on was cardio. Burning calories, in hopes of melting off fat. Strength training got short shrift.

  9. Short skirt could truncate career

Dear Angel: Do you have any thoughts about the proper skirt length for an office these days? A lovely young woman, recently out of college, has begun working in our office, and she wears her skirts very short. I don't know how she can sit down. That said, she's very bright, personable and has a great figure and looks good in the skirts, once you get past the fact there's nothing to them. But I fear the shortness may be affecting her in negative ways. I've overheard guys, including her bosses, joking about it, and frankly I don't want her held back because of the way she dresses. But I feel that I would be interfering to say anything to her (or look like a jealous busybody — help! I'm only 42!) Any ideas about how to handle this?

We have a real conflict when it comes to butts. Most people like them. To admire, at least. On the other hand, hardly anybody likes their own. Our butts are either too big, too small, too narrow, too flat, too flabby ... they need work. David Kirsch,...
