1. Shoe Gaze

The Devil Wears Prada (pictured) is certainly not be mistaken by the movie that shares its moniker. The Christian metalcore band (not kidding) hails from Dayton, Ohio and has recorded four feature length records. Two of their releases, With Roots Above and Branches Below (2009) and Dead Throne (2011), reached #1 on American Indie charts, and the latter cracked the top 10 on the U.S. charts. Priding themselves on technical proficiency and deep lyrical compositions, the band has been met with critical and commercial success in recent years. They will appear alongside As I Lay Dying at Webster Hall on March 17 as part of their Roadrunner Records supported tour.

  9. America's Largest Foam Party is Coming to the Webster Theatre in Hartford

Here's an idea: go get all foamy with a bunch of your 17-and-older friends at the Webster this Friday. Foam N' Glow, billed as "America's Largest Foam Party" (who's number 2?), presents what they call the "world's first 4D, completely interactive experience," which I guess means foam provides a portal in that elusive fourth dimension. Add in whatever cosmological BS you'd like. But basically it's a huge dance party, with foam, and hey, that's enough to entertain you for one night, right?

  11. Prog metal vets Arch / Matheos take flight at Hartford's Webster Theater on May 5

<span style="font-size: medium;">John Arch's memory of first meeting Jim Matheos is relatively hazy, but it's easy to forgive him for that. After all, the vocalist and the guitarist at the core of the recently created progressive metal outfit Arch / Matheos were introduced to one another nearly three decades ago. Back in 1983, Arch was singing Iron Maiden tunes for a cover band when guitarist Victor Arduini saw Arch's act and invited him to come see his own. Arch headed to a place in Newington where he was introduced to Misfit, the group that would become Fates Warning and subsequently one of the crucial names in early American prog metal. Back then, Misfit also played covers, but Matheos expressed interest in originals. They wanted Arch to be part of their new venture, so they auditioned him with high-range Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Accept tracks. “I screamed my brains out,” the amiable vocalist says. “Apparently, they liked what they heard even though I was definitely rough and still am at some points.”

  21. Daughtry at Foxwoods While Nickelback Plays Hartford? Maybe

Decisions, decisions: According to a press release from the band, Daughtry performs April 27 at MGM Grand at Foxwoods, which is the same night that Nickelback plays XL Center in Hartford. No word on tickets, but Foxwoods says the show hasn’t actually been confirmed and may not, in fact, happen that day, which probably benefits both bands, given their overlapping audiences.

  23. Straight Outta Leicester: Nero w/ Savoy at the Webster Theater in Hartford on Dec. 16

Londoners Daniel Stephens and Joe Ray (pictured) team up with vocalist Alana Watson (not pictured) on many of the duo's trippy electronic songs, which earned them a BBC Sound of 2011 poll nomination. That may not mean very much Stateside, but their brand of house, dubstep and drum and bass is worth checking out while they're over here.
