  2. Steven Tyler Says He Was Too Soft On American Idol Hopefuls

    <span style=&quot;font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif'; font-size: small;">For two seasons as judge on <em>American Idol</em>, <strong>Aerosmith</strong> frontman <strong>Steven Tyler</strong><strong>&rsquo;s</strong> favorite phrase to too many mediocre singers was &ldquo;that was beautiful.&rdquo; Now, Tyler has revealed the ugly truth &ndash; he lied to a lot of contestants not worthy of the praise. In a recent radio interview, Tyler said, &ldquo;The format was supposed to be take the piss out (mock/make fun) of people, so it&rsquo;s good TV, and I was gentle because I couldn&rsquo;t imagine telling some girl&hellip;she sucks and she can&rsquo;t sing, so then for the rest of her life she&rsquo;s not singing.&rdquo;</span>

    <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">The big finale of FOX&rsquo;s American Idol is imminent, and Keith Urban is set to debut his new single, &ldquo;Little Bit Of Everything,&rdquo; during the two-hour special. What many viewers may be wondering&hellip;is if Keith will return to the stage to perform with his fellow judges? He always hoped that would happen. &ldquo;We got asked that question early on in one of the press conferences you know&mdash;would we be up for singing.   6. The Eagles Don't Like TV Talent Shows

    <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">The Eagles don&rsquo;t have very many nice things to say about TV singing competitions like American Idol and X Factor. During a UK press conference for their documentary History of the Eagles, the guys were asked what they thought of those shows and they are apparently not fans. Glenn Frey admits to watching them out of some sort of &ldquo;morbid curiosity&rdquo; but criticized contestants who &ldquo;over sing&rdquo; everything. Explained Frey, &ldquo;The nature of these shows is such that they make everybody want to be big and big for the camera and big for the audience and you know, for myself I would just as soon somebody just stood there and sing the damn song.&rdquo; Don Henley added, &ldquo;yeah, they&rsquo;ve turned it into Glee.&rdquo; Joe Walsh has a completely different issue with such shows, explaining, &ldquo;they just leaked what those poor kids have to sign and basically they don&rsquo;t stand a chance.&rdquo;&nbsp; In other Eagles news, the band is getting ready for another tour, which kicks off in Louisville, Kentucky July 6th, and has hinted that it may be their last time on the road. &rdquo;We&rsquo;re about to begin rehearsals next month for our world tour,&rdquo; said Glenn Frey. &ldquo;I don&rsquo;t want to say it&rsquo;s our last world tour, but it very well could be. That&rsquo;s the only immediate plan.&rdquo;</span>

    <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">The competition is quite intense on FOX&rsquo;s American Idol, as the show is getting closer to its next winner. Phillip Phillips and Bon Jovi recently performed, which helped the rest of the world forget about the stressful live results for a few minutes. But, don&rsquo;t hold your breath if you plan on seeing the Idol judges&rsquo; perform this season. Keith Urban believes he is the only one interested! &ldquo;We got asked that early on in one of the press conferences early on- would we be up for singing. And I threw my hand up and said, &lsquo;I&rsquo;m up for it lets go.&rsquo; It was met with an arousing silence, but I&rsquo;m going to keep poking at Randy [Jackson] to see if we can put a little band together &ndash; because I would love to do it!   8. Carrie and Kelly Top Idol 100 Hits List

    <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">Two of the best-selling "American Idol" champs, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood dominate a special Billboard magazine survey of the 100 hit singles the TV competition's finalists scored in its first 11 seasons. Of the 100 tunes ranked, 31 country hits that reached the Hot 100 made the list, the top-selling of which is Carrie's sassy smash, "Before He Cheats," which comes in at No. 9. Carrie placed more songs on the survey than any other artist, with 20 in total, while Kelly's impressive tally of 18 tunes includes four of the top five, including the No. 1 "Idol" hit of all time, "Since U Been Gone." Carrie's "Before He Cheats" was a huge pop crossover hit, in spite of the fact that it didn't receive a pop remix, common for country songs that hit the mainstream chart. The single stayed on the Hot 100 a staggering 64 weeks, the fifth longest run for any song in the chart's history. Carrie and Kelly's rankings also translate to total record sales. During her time on the show, Simon Cowell famously declared to Carrie that not only would she win the competition, she would outsell all other "Idol" contestants. The Oklahoma native is, indeed, the best-selling Idol in the U.S., while Texas-born Kelly is tops in worldwide sales.</span>

    <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">The premiere of American Idol proved there will be a lot of talent to look for this season &ndash; but judges&rsquo; Randy Jackson and Nicki Minaj have already predicted a winner. In an interview with People, the two said they &ldquo;think it&rsquo;s a girls&rsquo; year&rdquo;, but former Idol winner Carrie Underwood is not quick to assume anything &ndash; even though she would love to see a girl take that title! &ldquo;I mean you never know why people vote a certain way. I don&rsquo;t know how I pulled off a win, but my year they said a guy was going to win &ndash; and they were wrong! Thank goodness! I am always excited to watch.
