1. 'Late Bloomer': Elijah Wood puberty romp looks for shot of Leo, Penn

EXCLUSIVE: “Late Bloomer” is one of those conceits for a movie you wish you’d thought of yourself: a man in his late 20s who’s never gone through puberty, then experiences it all in one head-spinning rush after a corrective surgery.

3. 'Dredd'

Sylvester Stallone put his spin on the comic-book character a number of years ago, but in the view of many purists, this made-in-3D version is the much more faithful one. Karl Urban ("Star Trek") now has the role of the futuristic judge, jury and...

5. 'Noboday Walks' a provocative, if flawed, story of temptation ★★

"Nobody Walks" is one of those fishbowl films: An idea is tossed in like a crumb, then we wait and watch what happens.
"Nobody Walks" is one of those fishbowl films: An idea is tossed in like a crumb, then we wait and watch what happens. This dark story unfolding in sunshine wonders what might happen to a beautifully blended but bored California family when a pretty...

13. 'Dredd' the return of the Judge

<span style="text-decoration: underline;">OPENING FRIDAY
OPENING FRIDAY Dredd 3D In the movies, the old saying goes, some stars wear the hat. And sometimes, the hat wears them. Frankly, the helmet wears Karl Urban in “Dredd.” He never takes off the oversized thing. It closes off his...

15. 'Dredd' review: Unfortunately, this is not a joke

** (out of our)
** (out of our) Two months after people questioned if it was too soon for another Spider-Man (it wasn’t), no one’s complaining about a new Judge Dredd 17 years after the 1995 Sylvester Stallone film. I don’t think anyone would have...

17. Like a big-screen game, focus of 'Dredd 3D' is body count ★ 1/2

The time-killing carnage in "Dredd 3D" can be assessed all sorts of ways. One depends on how much M-rated gaming you do as a matter of course. If the answer is some, or a lot, you'll likely find "Dredd 3D" up your viscera-strewn alley, because the film isn't merely influenced by a genre of first-person, shoot/stab/eviscerate/these/anonymous/enemies scenarios. It re-creates them, slavishly, as did the recent "The Raid: Redemption," so that calling "Dredd 3D" a movie is sort of a lie. It's a premise, and there are levels to reach, and always there's another grimy hallway to stalk, and then you turn right or left, and then kill some more.

19. 'Being Flynn'

A writer (Paul Dano) working in a homeless shelter has a very surprising reunion with his father (Robert De Niro), whose con-artist tendencies make him not the most reliable shoulder to lean on, in this comedy-drama from director and screenwriter Paul Weitz.

21. Being Flynn

I didn’t have high hopes for this movie. Writer/producer/director Paul Weitz impressed me with About a Boy, but the last time he worked with Robert De Niro it was for Little Fockers.
