  3. New Lynyrd Skynyrd Album In August

    <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd yesterday locked down an August 21 release date for their next studio album Last of a Dying Breed, the follow up to 2009&rsquo;s Gods &amp; Guns. Of the new collection of songs, guitarist Gary Rossington said, &ldquo;We kind of went back old school this time. All of us playing together in the studio as a band, tracking songs and creating licks.&rdquo; Black Crowes bassist Johnny Colt joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers in the studio as a result of the passing in 2001 of longtime bassist Donald &ldquo;Ean&rdquo; Evan, who succumbed to cancer.</span>

  5. Allman Brothers Back On The Road.

    <span style=&quot;font-size: small;">Touring titans the Allman Brothers Band will hit the road for a series of 14 U.S. concerts, starting on July 21 at the very appropriately named All Good Music Festival in Thornville, OH. The Brothers will hook up with fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Santana for a six-pack of shows running from July 22-30 and two gigs with fellow southern rock stalwarts Lynyrd Skynyrd on August 3 and 4.
