3.5 stars (out of 4)
3.5 stars (out of 4) Over two decades, Low has maintained a singular path marked by disquieting serenity, deceptive fragility, occasional outbursts of noise, and songs that ponder the unanswerable. "The Invisible Way" (Sub Pop) tweaks the approach....

19. Wilco Plays The Bushnell in Hartford on August 1st

Wilco shades both high-concept and American; we take pride in their successes, belt their choruses and patiently abide their experiments. It's almost patriotic. They'll return to the Bushnell on Wednesday, and most likely so will everyone who saw them last time they were in town, or before that, or anytime since. Here's a band at the top of their game, one of the few who can boast of having one of the great songwriters of his time (Jeff Tweedy); a hands-down guitar killer (Nels Cline); the best players around on their respective instruments (Patrick Sansone, Mikael Jorgensen and John Stirratta); and a drummer (Glenn Kotche) who moonlights with the Bang on a Can All-Stars (a.k.a. the Beatles of avant-rock). Why would you stay home. (Rhetorical question; nobody's gonna.)
