1. Chicago's hunger and hip-hop collide on Tumblr

Hip-hop and food are not strangers to each other--in fact the opulence and eccentricities of rap music has often lended itself well to cuisine. From Common's classic single, "The Food," to Kanye's classic snark, "What she order?/Fish filet," Chicago rappers have shown a penchant for both the gourmet and the grimy, and, of course, we now have a Tumblr to bring some of it together.

  3. Hartford's D-Celli Blends Mainstream and Underground

It's difficult to find an artist who can be classified as the "complete package," with a true talent, a unique voice, and a firm grasp of the world around them. It's even more uncommon when that artist is a rapper from Connecticut. Let's face it, CT is not exactly a hip-hop mecca. Despite the ever-changing landscape of hip-hop, the general population seems to be stuck in an era where drug dealers and big gold chains were synonymous with rap. The truth is, a younger, much more dynamic generation of rappers is coming to the forefront, and Hartford's Dylan Arcelli, aka D-Celli, arrives at the perfect time to catch that wave.

  5. Kevin Coval on his new poetry collection, "Schtick"

  21. The 25 best Chicago rap videos of all time

Rap videos can be tricky to understand as an art form. If you aren't in tune with the culture, you might just dismiss them all as a cavalcade of ginormous butts, bottles, cars and one tough guy in the back row counting a large wad of money. (People in tune know that that's only 67% true.) Chicago has a very storied history of quality rap videos from homegrown stars and it's high time we gave them some cultural appreciation. Here's my list for the 25 best Chicago rap videos of all time.
