5. Drummer Dishes on Bowie's Desire to Keep Album a Secret

<span style="font-size: small;">He’s played with Bruce Springsteen and now drummer Zachary Alford can FINALLY say he played on David Bowie’s new album as well. Like everyone involved, Alford had to keep a secret the fact that Bowie was working on his first album, The Next Day (available March 12), in a decade. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Alford reveals that Bowie “handed out nondisclosure forms for everyone to sign” so as to keep lips sealed. Alford did confess to telling his wife and children, then added, “But we home-school, so I didn’t have to worry about them blabbing it all over school.”

<span style="font-size: small;">Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Emmylou Harris are just a handful of stars who will celebrate Bruce Springsteen as the 2013 MusiCares Person of the Year. The special event will celebrate Bruce’s artistic achievements as well as his philanthropic work. The “Doctor” is known for putting his soul into music and it is fitting that Kenny would highlight Bruce - since they have the same mentality. “I have always tried to put as much of my life into my music and how I grew up and how I live it. When my life changed as an artist is when I really started letting a lot of my life in there.” Additional artists to recognize Bruce include Alabama Shakes, Natalie Maines, and Neil Young. The show will be hosted by Jon Stewart on February 8th in Los Angeles. The celebration culminates with the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards on February 10th, at 8PM Eastern on CBS.

  21. Jersey Governor Weeps After Meeting Springsteen

<span style="font-size: small;">In yet another case of politics making strange bedfellows, Republican New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, the man who delivered the keynote address for Mitt Romney at the Republican National Convention, was driven to tears after meeting and hugging his lifelong hero, Bruce Springsteen, an ardent supporter of President Barack Obama and a sometime critic of Christie. Of course what brought these two together was the common goal of helping their fellow New Jersey residents struggling to rebuild in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Gov. Christie told a group of volunteers “that the hug was great and that when we got home there was a lot of weeping because of the hug.”
