7. Girls Athlete of the Week: Aaliyah Wilson, Seton Keough, basketball

The 5-foot-7 senior guard played a key role in two wins last week for the No. 6 Gators, including a 60-54 upset over Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference rival St. Frances. Nicknamed "Stixz," Wilson had 24 points, eight steals and three assists in the victory. She also had 10 points, five steals and five assists, as well as providing a critical calming influence for the Gators in a physical 47-43 victory over MATHS. Wilson, who has signed to play at Howard, missed much of last season when she was sidelined with a concussion early and then returned for a few games before suffering a broken nose. She played for the Maryland Select AAU team last summer and has a 2.85 GPA.

  19. Album review: Redd Kross, 'Researching the Blues'

It’s odd to think of Los Angeles punk band Redd Kross as a legacy act, considering its bassist Steven McDonald learned his instrument at age 11, shortly before he and older brother Jeff, 15, opened for Black Flag in the early ’80s. But more than three decades later, here they are, delivering the kind of fuzzed-out melodies and explosive girl-group harmonies that at their 1980s prime propelled them to near-stardom.
