1. LBT Hosts CMA Music Festival

<span style="font-size: small;">The four members of Little Big Town will collectively host ABC's 'CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock' broadcast when it airs later this summer. The group made the announcement via YouTube Thursday morning. They will take over after Luke Bryan and the Band Perry's Kimberly Perry co-hosted in 2012. Little Big Town has been a mainstay at the CMA Music Festival since 1999. It was called Fan Fair back then, and Kimberly Schlapman remembers playing one month after signing a record deal. They knew two songs and had one guitar. Each year they've come back, and so have their most loyal fans. Seeing old friends is part of what makes the annual celebration so special, they said. "It feels like the biggest gathering of country music fans in the world, and it is," Jimi Westbrook said. "People plan their vacations around that time, and it is all about one thing, the love of country music." According to the Country Music Association, an average of 71,000 people attended the festival each day in 2012. Filming for the broadcast will take place from June 6-9 at Nashville's LP Field. Confirmed performers include Carrie Underwood, Zac Brown Band, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert and many other big name country stars. The broadcast will air on Aug. 12 at 8PM ET on ABC, approximately one month earlier than last year's televised replay of the festival's highlights.

  3. George Goes "Strait" To Top Of Charts

<span style="font-size: small;">Not only has George Strait secured his 60th #1 hit with “Give It All We Got Tonight,” he also has the #1 country album this week with Love Is Eveything! The project has four songs that “King George” had a hand in writing, but he says his latest chart topper was a song he could not live without. “The first time I heard it, I thought, ‘Hmm…that’s a great song. A little different for me, you know? A little risqué kinda, you know I’m thinking, ‘I don’t know if I can pull this off or not.’ But I just love it. I mean, it’s…like I said, it’s a little different. The melody’s a little different. Great lyrics. It’s kind of about parking, you know? Which I’ve done a few times, you know, back in the early days.” After selling over 119,000 copies in the first week, George also claimed the #2 spot on Billboard’s Top 200 chart with Love Is Everything. George has become the first artist in history to score 60 #1 singles.

Wyman, who joined the band onstage at London’s O2 Arena last November, told the Huffington Post, “The nice thing was my kids saw me on stage with the Stones. <span style="font-size: small;">Kenny Chesney’s latest album, Life On A Rock, has struck a chord with fans - it debuted as the #1 album on the Billboard country music charts – and the Top 200 Albums chart! It managed to sell over 150,000 copies, but when Kenny began this record, he did not intend for the personal tracks to reach fans. “I wrote all these songs knowing that the majority of them would never see the light of day on a radio station or in my show. And that goes against all conventional wisdom and all the thinking in our business! You know what I mean? It really does. But it allowed me to be really honest with my fans and tell them stories and open up some doors that I haven’t — and that felt really good. You know?”Life On A Rock marks Kenny’s 7th Top 200 album debut, and his 12th consecutive #1 Billboard country albums chart debut.
