7. PARIS JACKSON HOSPITALIZED AFTER SUICIDE ATTEMPT

<span style="font-size: 12pt;">Michael Jackson’s daughter Paris Jackson was rushed to the hospital yesterday morning after an apparent suicide attempt. TMZ reports that a 911 call was made at 1:27 am reporting a possible overdose, and Paris was taken from her Calabasas home on a stretcher at around 2 am. A source tells the site she had multiple cuts on one of her arms, but is reportedly doing okay. According to sources, Paris left a suicide note and then cut her arm with a meat cleaver. She reportedly called a suicide hotline, and it was the person on the other end that contacted 911. As for the overdose, TMZ says she took a large number of Motrin pills. On Tuesday, the 15-year-old posted the cryptic tweets, "I wonder why tears are salty?" and the lyric from the Beatles tune “Yesterday,” "yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away now it looks as though they're here to stay." An insider close to Paris tells TMZ, she has “tried this [a possible suicide attempt] in the past" but "this was far more serious. It was not a cry for help." Another source tells TMZ Paris “threw a fit” Tuesday night when she was not allowed to attend a Marilyn Manson concert. Paris’ mom Debbie Rowe told Entertainment Tonight that the teen had “a lot going on,” but wouldn’t elaborate. The attorney for her grandmother Katherine Jackson said, "Paris is physically fine and is getting appropriate medical attention,” adding, “being a sensitive 15 year old is difficult no matter who you are. It is especially difficult when you lose the person closest to you."

  21. LINCOLN TOPS OSCAR NOMINEES

<span style="color: black;">Steven Spielberg’s epic Lincoln leads the list of nominees for the 85th Annual Academy Awards, nabbing 12 nods, including Best Picture, Best Director (Spielberg), Best Actor (Daniel Day-Lewis), Best Supporting Actress (Sally Field) and Best Supporting Actor (Tommy Lee Jones). Coming in close behind is Life of Pi, with 11 nominations. Competing against both films for Best Picture are Silver Linings Playbook, Argo, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Django Unchained. Amour and Les Misérables. The biggest snubs of the day came in the Best Director category. Although they were considered locks, both Ben Affleck and Kathryn Bigelow failed to get recognized, despite both of their films, Argo and Zero Dark Thirty, nabbing Best Picture nominations. (Les Misérables director Tom Hooper was also snubbed in the category, although he wasn’t considered as much of a shoe-in.) Other interesting Oscar tidbits: all five nominees in the Best Supporting Actor category (Jones, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Christoph Waltz, Alan Arkin and Robert DeNiro) are past Oscar winners. Amour’s Emmanuelle Riva, who is 85, is the oldest Best Actress nominee ever, while Beasts of the Southern Wild’s Quvenzhané [Qua-VEN-zha-ne] Wallis is the youngest Best Actress Oscar nominee ever at 9 (she was six when she shot the film). Leonardo DiCaprio, who received a Golden Globe nod for Django Unchained, failed to get a nomination. This year’s Oscar host, Seth MacFarlane received a nod for Best Original Song for his Ted tune “Everybody Needs A Best Friend.” And Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises didn’t get any nominations, not even in technical categories.Click here for a complete list of nominees.
