  7. Advocate Interview: Philip Price of Winterpills

    <span style=&quot;font-size: medium;">Northampton&rsquo;s own Winterpills released their fifth and most ambitious album, <em>All My Lovely Goners</em>, earlier this month. <a href="http://www.winterpills.com/" target="_blank">(It's now streaming on their website.)</a> Songwriter Philip Price spoke with the <em>Advocate </em>by phone about what the group wanted to achieve with the record, why they are releasing in on vinyl and their plans to tour behind the record at places like next month&rsquo;s South By Southwest conference in Austin, Texas.</span> <span style="font-size: medium;">This Saturday, they'll host a CD release party at a hometown venue, the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton, with guests Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion. </span>

    Decisions, decisions: According to a press release from the band,&nbsp;<strong>Daughtry</strong>&nbsp;performs April 27 at MGM Grand at Foxwoods, which is the same night that&nbsp;<strong>Nickelback</strong>&nbsp;plays XL Center in Hartford. No word on tickets, but Foxwoods says the show hasn&rsquo;t actually been confirmed and may not, in fact, happen that day, which probably benefits both bands, given their overlapping audiences.

  12. Duncan Sheik returns to the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton on Dec. 12

    <span style=&quot;font-size: medium;">Recently, Duncan Sheik's life came close to unraveling. In June, on the day his latest album, <em>Covers &rsquo;80s</em>, was released, Sheik entered a treatment center for alcohol abuse. He wrote extensively about the experience on his website: "Duncan here, offering you belated apologies for the cancellation of my June tour. The truth is I didn&rsquo;t do it because I realized I was drinking too much and chose to confront that situation, with the help of family, great friends and some thoughtful, highly qualified professionals." </span>
