  1. Oscars: Big stars, confounding choices, enduring fascination

The TV Guy - Orlando Sentinel
Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep will present at the Oscars this Sunday, and their inclusion will bring needed oomph to the 85th annual awards. Maybe James Bond will help, too. The Oscars will salute the 50-year-old film franchise and offer...

  3. The story of the Oscars

While it's true that there's only so much anyone can say about the Oscars, remember it can be said again and again. As a reader (and writer), I know by now that there are 10 abiding Oscar stories. Here they are, all in a single article: The history...

  5. Edith Head's legend endures

It's been almost 29 years since Edith Head's died, but interest in the enigmatic American costume designer with the signature, seemingly impenetrable, circular eyeglasses has never waned. This fall, the Hollywood legend is the subject of a new book, as well as a one-woman show about her life that opens Oct. 1 at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood.

  7. Blu-ray Review: A bit of a 'Titanic' waste

There are literally dozens of movies about the Titanic; this 1953 Hollywood version is one of the three best-known (the other two being Roy Ward Baker's “A Night to Remember” and James Cameron's modest little 1997 chamber drama). Like Cameron, director Jean Negulesco (Fox's go-to guy for melodrama at the time), writer/producer Charles Brackett (after the severing of his amazing 12-year collaboration with Billy Wilder), and co-writers Walter Reisch and Richard Breen focused primarily on the romantic lives of fictional characters. Barbara Stanwyck and Clifton Webb are the central pair, with Robert Wagner and Audrey Dalton representing young love.

  19. In rustic Mandeville Canyon, where the deer and the Hollywood stars play

Miles away from the bustle of the Sunset Strip and the glitz of Beverly Hills, there's another place where Hollywood lives: the leafy Brentwood neighborhood of Mandeville Canyon. A ranch once owned by actors Robert Taylor and Barbara Stanwyck is on the market, and the canyon's also been home to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Richard Widmark, Eva Marie Saint and Robert Mitchum. Around here, however, the focus is more on the stars in the sky and the natural beauty.

Dear Amy: I'm an older man and have been married for a long time. It is not a "terrific" marriage, but I've lived it for so long that I'm just used to it. A few years ago I met a single woman. One thing led to another, and we spent the night together....
